Whether you need edge-to-edge quilting, binding, or expert finishing touches, we offer personalized care and quick turnaround times that you can count on.

Detailed Service Breakdown

  • Edge-to-Edge Quilting Options

Designs are designed to create an overall repeated quilting effect across the quilt top. They are usually single run designs that have a start and stop point on opposite sides of the design. Edge-to-edge designs are sewn left to right and are slightly smaller than the machine heads vertical movement range. Picking your edge-to-edge design is a crucial part of quilt finishing services.

  • Binding Services

Deb’s Quilt Studio does offer machine binding services. We offer binding services ranging from machine attachment of the binding to the front of the quilt for the quilter to hand bind it down; to complete attachment by machine. Binding services compliment Arizona quilt finishing services.

  • Batting and Thread Choices

We have battings from these major brands - Warm & Natural, Quilters Dream, and Hobbs. Each of these brands has 100 % cotton battings in both white and natural, 80/20 blends, plush or premium luxury cottons. Additionally, Quilters Dream offers wool, polyester, bamboo, green, and blend 70/30. Hobbs bonded fibers offers a poly-down, Tuscany, and cloud-loft battings.

Batting is crucial and often unseen component of professional quilt finishing services. So, while it's not the visible "face" of the finished quilt, batting is undeniably a fundamental element that makes a quilt what it is. It's the unseen layer that provides the cozy, dimensional quality we associate with quilts.

Choosing the right thread color is a critical aspect of longarm machine quilting. Matching the thread color to the quilt top may seem like the obvious choice, but contrasting threads can add a dynamic dimension to your project.

  • Here’s a question to help you choose - Do you want to see the long arming quilting or do you want it to disappear into the quilt?

  • Thread choice significantly impacts the outcome of quilt finishing services in several ways:

    1. Quilting Aesthetics and Visibility are effected by your thread choices:

      1. Color: The most obvious impact. The thread color can either blend seamlessly with the fabric, making the quilting stitches subtle and emphasizing the quilt top design, or it can contrast boldly, highlighting the quilting patterns as a design element themselves.

      2. Weight (Thickness): Thread weight affects how prominent the quilting stitches appear.

      3. Thicker threads (e.g., 30wt, 40wt): Create more visible, textured stitches that can add dimension and impact to the quilting design. They are often used when the quilting itself is meant to be a focal point.

      4. Thinner threads (e.g., 50wt, 60wt): Produce finer, less noticeable stitches that allow the fabric and piecing to take center stage. They are often preferred for intricate designs or when a subtle texture is desired.

  • Backing and Preparation Guidelines

An intricate part of your quilt backing selection involves whether you want to piece your quilt back or use a wide back fabric. Either way is acceptable. Your quilt back must be larger than your quilt top by 4-6 inches on all sides, anything less will cause problems loading the longarm machine and you could be charged an extra fee for having to attach a leader to the bottom of your quilt to be able to longarm your quilt all the way to the bottom of your quilt top.

 2-Week Quilt Finishing - Guaranteed

We finish and ship most quilts within 14 days of receiving them - even during peak season. If you’re in Arizona, local drop-off is also available.

What Our Quilt Finishing Clients Say

"I'm absolutely thrilled with how my quilt turned out! The Spider Mum pattern looks stunning - the way the stitching flows across the fabric really brings the whole design to life. Every little detail was handled with such care, from the perfectly matched thread colors to the way the quilting enhances each block rather than competing with it. That black minky backing I requested feels so luxurious, and Deb did a beautiful job making sure it was attached smoothly without any puckers or tension issues. The machine binding was done perfectly - crisp, even, and secure with no loose threads or wobbly edges. She really listened to what I wanted but also added her professional touch in ways that made the quilt even better than I imagined. This is definitely not just a blanket - it's a work of art that I'll treasure for years to come. Deb's Quilt Studio has earned a customer for life!"

Beverly, Taylor Arizona

"I've been quilting for over 30 years but never had the confidence to tackle the final quilting on my larger quilt projetcs. After recommendations from my quilting circle, I decided to trust Deb’s Quilt Studio with my special anniversary quilt. What a wonderful decision! The longarm quilting they chose perfectly complemented my piecing work, with elegant feather designs that followed the flow of my star pattern. The stitching is incredibly even and the tension is perfect throughout—not a single pucker or tuck anywhere. They suggested a simple piano key border that frames the quilt beautifully, something I wouldn't have thought of myself. The binding application is flawless with crisp, square corners that I struggle to achieve on my own. They finished the quilt well before our anniversary and even added a personalized label at no extra charge. Their pricing was fair for the remarkable quality, and they treated my quilt with the same care I would. I'll never finish a special quilt myself again!"

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

  • Quilt backing needs to be 4-6 inches larger than quilt top on all sides.

  • You have two options for getting your materials to us:

    • Mail: Package your materials securely and ship to our studio address

    • Drop Off: Bring your materials to our studio during business hours

Make sure to include your completed intake form with your submission!

  • Not sure which quilting pattern will best complement your quilt top? Don't worry - this is common! Here are a few approaches that might help:

    1. Browse our pattern gallery: Visit our "Quilting Patterns" page to see examples of each pattern on actual quilts. This can give you a visual sense of how different patterns look when completed.

    2. Consider your quilt style: Traditional quilts often pair well with classic patterns like feathers or continuous curves. Modern quilts might look best with geometric patterns or straight-line quilting. For pictorial or themed quilts, we can suggest patterns that enhance your quilt's story.

    3. Think about the quilt's purpose: Is this a wall hanging that will be closely examined? A special heirloom? Or a functional quilt for everyday use? Denser quilting adds structure but may make the quilt less soft and drapey.

    4. Let us help: If you're still unsure, just note "Pattern Selection Assistance" on your intake form, and we'll call to discuss options based on your quilt top's design and your preferences.

    5. Send a photo: Email us a photo of your quilt top, and we'll be happy to suggest 2-3 patterns that would complement it well.

  • Yes, Batting choice affects your quilt’s warmth, drape, and washability.

  • A: Batting choice affects your quilt's warmth, drape, and washability. We offer several options:

    • Cotton batting: Medium weight with a traditional feel. Provides good warmth and works well for most quilts. Minimal shrinkage gives a slightly aged look after washing.

    • 80/20 Cotton/Poly blend: Our most popular choice! Offers the natural feel of cotton with added durability from polyester. Less shrinkage than 100% cotton with excellent stitch definition.

    • Wool batting: Lightweight with excellent warmth. Creates beautiful loft and definition in quilting patterns. Great for show quilts and when you want quilting to stand out.

    • Polyester batting: Budget-friendly option that's hypoallergenic and easy to care for. Holds its shape well over time with minimal shrinkage.

    • Bamboo blend: Eco-friendly option with a silky drape. Naturally antibacterial properties make it ideal for baby quilts.

If you're unsure which batting to choose, we're happy to recommend options based on your quilt's design and intended use.

  • A: We can supply high-quality batting for your quilt at competitive prices. Simply indicate your preference on the intake form, and we'll add the appropriate batting to your order. If you prefer to supply your own batting, please ensure it's at least 4 inches larger than your quilt top on all sides.

  • A: For standard ¼-inch double-fold binding, use this formula:

    • Measure the perimeter of your quilt (add all four sides together)

    • Add 10 inches for connecting the ends and finishing

    • Divide by 40 (inches in a typical width of fabric)

    • Round up to the nearest ¼ yard

    For example, for a quilt measuring 60" × 80":

    • Perimeter: 60 + 80 + 60 + 80 = 280 inches

    • Add 10 inches: 290 inches

    • Divide by 40: 290 ÷ 40 = 7.25

    • You'll need 7.25 yards (or 7¼ yards) of fabric

If you're not sure, just let us know your quilt dimensions, and we'll calculate the binding fabric requirement for you.Item description

  • A: We offer several binding options:

    1. Binding Preparation: We'll cut, join, and press your binding fabric into double-fold binding strips, then return it with your finished quilt for you to attach.

    2. Machine Binding: We'll prepare your binding and machine-attach it to both sides of your quilt for a durable finish.

If you're providing fabric for binding, please send it with your quilt top and backing. We're also happy to help you select complementary binding fabrics if needed.
